About us

The Friends of St Andrew's Church, Halstead was formed in May 1993 and is an independent registered charity (number 1019270) whose sole objective is to raise money for the upkeep of our historic parish church.

The Friends in action

Since formation, the Friends have contributed in excess of £220,000 to financing church projects including in late 2002, circa £37,000 for the refurbishment of the "Father Willis" Church Organ.

Repairs to the tower roof took place during January and February 2016, fitting a stainless steel 'tray' to the roof, which was damaged during high winds in 2014. In January 2018, repairs to the clerestory windows took place. The total cost of this work was in the region of £100,000, of which at least £80,000 was provided by the Friends and our supporters.
